Thread: Torrey score

Found this Torrey today at an antique store. Paid $15.00. Looks like a good candidate to restore. The blade looks a little rough in these photos, but after about an hour of work its cleaning up pretty good. Looks like the scales got cracked and someone shortened them and re-pinned at the pivot. Notice how they have been carved away. For now It closes but its real tight at the toe. New scales for sure.

That razor is a keeper . I had one like it and it was easy to hone , and a great shaver . The only reason I sold it was because I had plenty of 5/8 razors that were great shavers .

That is so wierd, My torrey I bought almost just like yours was shortened and repinned by someone so it would close down on part of the wedge. Looked like a farmer did it like 80 years ago so I buffed the blade clean and made some walnut scales. It's my best shaver now, enjoy! Even out preforms my other razors.

Those scales you made are real beauties, sort of what I envision.
