A. Reynolds Razor
Hi again guys,
I was wondering if anybody knew much about A. Reynolds. I think he predates F. Reynolds because the razor I have is from 1800-1820. I restored the razor today
. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Carl.

yeah sure
The date comes from the Warranted mark on the tang. In my "Standard Guide To Straight Razors" it says that the mark went out of the window in 1820
Thank you for any input

Your razor was made after 1914.
Dating the razors, before and after 1891.
And the maker wasn't from Frederick Reynolds family.Alex Ts.

And it's true ...but for such razors:The date comes from the Warranted mark on the tang. In my "Standard Guide To Straight Razors" it says that the mark went out of the window in 1820

Thank you for that! That is really interesting. I spent all day looking for an article such as the one you posted, so thank you very much. A real help, I am trying to go into business in this area so I need as many lessons as I can get my hands on
I see the difference between the razors in the picture and the one I have, they are gorgeous. Thanks again!

Some details:And the maker wasn't from Frederick Reynolds family.
Frederick Reynolds(the founder) died on 22 October 1877, aged 63.
His son, Richard Reynolds continued to manufacture razors.
The company ceased trading in the late 1940s, after the death of the founder's grandson Harry Reynolds, He died in 1946, aged 56.
So. I couldn't find somebody with letter "A" at the beginning of the name.Last edited by manah; 01-14-2012 at 08:29 PM.
