    Default Me poor dead Dorko:((((

Once a year I go thru my collection,ck the blades, wipe them down with a microfiber cloth, apply a little rig grease, say hello, put them away
So I remove Mr Dorko, from his orig box, unwrap him from his orig paperwork, gently wipe the blade down,
AND THE WHOLE FREAKIN EDGE FALLS OFF This razor has never been used,is over 70 yrs old.N.O.S.100% mint (was mint) I am beside myself with grief,If I was a drinking man I would pour myself a double brandy at this time.
Please join me in bidding farewell to one of the greats,It was not my fault, honestly, maybe it's the rig grease.

That is really shocking to see.
I donīt know how an edge can just collapse like that.
Assuming this razor is authentic, the steel should last for 150+ years without edges disintegrating as is evident by countless examples owned by many members here (not withstanding any probs with rust which is not the case here).
    Where did you buy it?
    What exactly is rig grease?
It would take a very strong acid/corrosive to chew through metal like that.
I am very sorry for your loss.

I feel for you man, that is sad indeed.
I am also baffled, how on earth did that happen?
    It was a lovely razor.

Bummer!!! What a way to start the day! I can't think what might have caused that. It sounds like the steel crystallized! I don't know if there is any chemical process absent of a heat source that could cause that reaction, but obviously it did. I know I'd be degreasing the rest of the herd. Sorry it happened. Let us know if you solve the mystery!

    Regards,

    Howard

Want to say oh well, is just a razor, life will go on.
Am certain it had nothing to do with the rig,That stuff is bullit proof,I have several others and have no problems with them,Cannot remember where I got the blade.
I think it was just a factory defect of sorts,is very strange indeed.

Sorry for your loss. This is a mystery that needs to be solved. Whatever this rig grease is that you write of, you'll need to let us know. This could happen to someone else, so it's probably pretty important to try to understand what just happened to your razor.

Like those above (and soon to be below), I offer my condolences. At least it's just an object. Could be worse.
