Thread: any ideas on razor identification?

so i found this razor in a local antique shop. blade is real rough, but i really liked the handle so i picked it up, ive seen this identical handle on other blades while poking around online, but those had a pearl tang and "waldorf" on the blade. was it common for these blades to be replaced? i would find it surprising that different companies would use the same exact design. i also noticed after i bought it, it has a small head on either side of the handle, it appears to be a woman. does this make it a womans razor? i guess im just curious about who made it, where it came from, when it was made and all that. thanks for any feedback!

Those scales appeared on a lot of razors by different makers - I guess that the scale-maker was an independent who sold in bulk to anyone.

The second razor is an H. Boker, as the last razor in the following illustration from 1909 shows:



The Boker name would have been on the MOP, but has obviously worn away. The cartouche surrounding 'Waldorf' is also the same as that used on other Bokers.
