Nice steelhead cflaageriv. I've been using just one razor the last few weeks to good effect. Excellent idea. Lynn: always good advice to watch the length. I've learned the hard way with a nasty spike point.

Thanks instantcrow, by the way, that's healthy looking gobbler you have there.
Never thought about the length factoring in but it certainly makes sense. I'll keep it in mind.
Agree with the topic completely. I find that 'long' narrower blades are not only harder to shave with but also more difficult to hone. Their geometry, if you call it that, are just 'off' for the way that I shave. While I have a few in my rotation they are there only as an 'exercise' and not because they're fun to use!
I wasn't really aware that I've heard of any blades of any make any longer than 3." But, I do have a W&B that I think is somewhere b/w 2.5 and 2.75. But maybe that's what you mean. In that case I absolutely agree; I equally hate long narrow blades. I have this one very old Bengall. I inherited it from a local estate. It previously belonged to a gentleman named Walter H. Pike, of Peru, MA. He was born in 1873 and died sometime after 1930. It must've been his favorite because it is so really worn on the spine and so worn on the blade that I honestly believe he gave that razor a run for its money. It is still so shiny and was well cared for. I gave it a quickie honing after I got it, but found it to be a little bit beyond my abilities at the time (but being it was a Bengall, it gave a great shave). One of these days I going to take it out and try again - hopefully this time with much better results.
