I call those long tail razors.
To me "monkey tail" does not make sense with regards to razor tail.

Show that to Charlie Lewis and you might not get it back. He really likes long tails

Well, that's what I was calling it too, but I saw one on the auction site being advertised as a monkey's tail & with me being a n00b, thought I had it wrong.

If you see him, tell him it's available.

Don't get me wrong, the term floats here too, but why monkey tail is unknown to me.

The same guy who invented the barber notch called them monkey tails ..... he was going to explain why but got hit by a train .....

Kidding aside, I've seen them called that long before SRP. First one I remember referred to that way was a De Pews 'perfect razor' with the really long tail. Not sure if that razor may have begun the expression. Maybe one of our resident historians has some leads on the origin of the term.

Maybe they can find out the origin of the word "dog" while they're at it.

A "Monkey Tail" is a nautical term for a handspike used to aim and level a cannon, this term dates to 1822. My take on the Monkey tail is because many monkeys have a long tail.

Probably the same reason that most call the "Monkey tail plant"

Also heard this plant called a violin head so take your pick!
