    Default First Shave

I followed in my Grandpas footsteps today & had my first straight razor shave. I watched pretty much every video I could on you-tube & read ton's of forums on this site & it all paid off. I started with a hot shower, 5 drops of all natural shave oil, Kiss my Face moisture shave cream, then "Took My Time" & let the blade do all the work. I did two passes & not a single nick. I finish with Clubman pinaud after-shave. Thank you to everybody that's posting-!! That knowledge was full proof.

    Congrats and welcome,

You're all too right about letting the blade do all the work. Adding too much pressure is a sure recipe for irritation. Sounds like you're off to a great start!

It's encouraging to hear that the first attempt isn't always a bloodbath. Congrats!

    Great Job..

You sure did better than my first shaves (although I didnt bleed that much the first shave).. the second or third was worse.. it was bloody smooth..

    Have Fun!

Glad to hear it can be done. I just ordered my first razor and have been studying everything I can. I have been anticipating a blood bath my first try. now I have some hope. LOL taz/mike

Mike, there is no reason why it could not be done. There was a time were straights were the only way. Please let us know of your experience.
