    Default Another Sunday Shave

Ah, Sundays are a wonderful shave. No hurry up. The task list is lite. Time to wake up and smell the shave cream.

PRE: Hot towel with a little avocado oil to soften the stubble
    BRUSH: Old Original Super Badger
SOAP: Red Clover Tea / coconut oil
    RAZOR: Joseph Elliot
    POST: Ice cold towel
    AS: Cool Water
    Name: P7090003.jpg

Man oh man what a way to start, nice soft beard, a super soap that the wife loves the scent of, a super sharp old razor, followed by a invigorating cold towel with the enlivening sting of after shave. This my friends in the way to start a great day.
May everyones day begin this good.

Pre-Shave: Hot Shower & Shave Secret Oil
    Brush: Omega Pure Badger
    Razor: Dovo Bismarck Red
Strop: 30 lashes on the SRD red latigo
Creme: Martin de Candre (First experience!)
    Astringent none
After Shave Splash:Captain Smith's Caribbean Bay Rum
    Cologne: Dirty English
Results: I just had my first experience with MdC. When the package arrived today (I bought a new jar from a fellow no the B & B) I felt a bit sick to my stomach for having spent so much on the soap.
The stuff sure smelled good though.
I prepped and made about 5 circles of my brush on the top of the soap (which still looks untouched now). The amount of lather I created in my bowl was pretty amazing. My goto cream is TOBS and I'd say I got 2x the lather and from a much smaller portion. I have no idea how many shaves I'll get from this jar of MdC but it will be A LOT!
The scent is awesome and I got a BBS shave from 2 passes with my Dovo Bismark red. I lathered up and did a 3rd just because I didn't want all that lather to go to waste. In fact I let it sit on my face while I stropped my razor after finishing up! Yeah, it really is that good.
I still feel bad spending so much, but this soap does a pretty phenomenal job and I'm sure I'll get my money's worth out of it. Honestly for the amount of lather I received from so little MdC i think it might last longer than the 3 or 4 tubs i could have bought of TOBS for the same price!

Unnamed straight (looks like Sheffield blade, 1/2 or 1/4 hollow)
    Acca Kappa 1869 (veggie)
    Semogue 2000
Prada Infusion D'Homme after shave balm
[Prada Infusion D'Homme Eau de Toilette]

A shave to remember, one of the closest and effortless ones I have had so far. Technique is improving constantly, the new Neil Miller strop is doing a terrific job, the ritual literally starts to feel as easy as shaving with a DE (but I said "starts" - we have a long way yet until it really feels like so...)

    Default Another Sheffield Sunday

Razor:C.T. Bingham Late F. Fenney Tally Ho
    Brush:Jade and brass handled boar
    Soap:Williams Mug Soap
    AS:Thayers Lavender and Hai Karate
Result:Three days of growth stood no chance against the Tally Ho. Got a great lather from the Williams letting me get near BBS after the first pass. One multi-directional pass later and I'm as smooth as the day I was born. Add to this the Hai Karate and this feels like it's going to be a great day.

Max with a Kamisori??? I never thought I'd live to see the day. Way to go buddy. I like it. +1 on the La Toja. My sentiments exactly.

Ouuuuch Béla. Hope it won't give rise to any problems. Just stay cool and indoors with AC on. Actually, the awesome shave with this beautiful W&B ought to keep you cooooooool for the rest of today.

Now, that's a shave worthy to be called "perfect". I love it Sten. Well done on the honing front too.

    Beautiful hardware indeed Birnando.

PS: why are you worried about TGQ products? Hard to come by where you are? If you want, let me know and I can buy it for you and send it your way (unless it's a hard to find scent or something).

    He better look after them!!!
    Grant,
The Bengall is awesome for sure, but the centerpiece of today's SOTD is the carving sets. First and foremost, great job on them. They look like they were just purchased from the store, brand new. Certainly not 40 yrs old. I am impressed buddy. Reaaaal beauties. I am sure your dad would appreciate and take good care of them. Secondly, I am glad you found a camera to continue your photo fest with us.

Wonderful blade this W&B, scales where so dry (almost cracked dry) when I found her (blade was in very good nick w almost no hone wear though), but Neil managed to save and improve them way more that I thought was possible. Both face and dome´s clean and soft as a Catfish belly today
    Mikael,
Neil to the rescue again!!!! That man is amazing. Beautiful W&B indeed

Nic Kukri Nic. I bet she shaves as good as she looks. The PB creme sounds interesting too. What does it smell like?

    Tim,
CONGRATULATIONS on your 1st experience with MdC. This thing costs a lot for sure, but in return it gives you nth times the reward. Well worth it. Well done. Watch out TOBS, there's a new kid on the block

PS: I love the leather bag/gear in the background. I am a sucker for oldies/worn out type bags like that.

No panic, but nice switch. I really am intrigued by that brush handle. Very interesting. Nice shave K.

Excellent Konstantinos. Love hearing about your progress and successes with the straight. This razor os beautiful (whatever the name). I see you used the Acca Kappa in the tube. How is the lather. I (and many others) seem to gravitate towards the tub form. Rumor has it that there is drastic difference in performance between the two (due to reformulation). Would love to hear your thoughts/experiences with the tube form.

Ouuuch Paul...I feel your disappointment (and pain). I am going to miss you 'til Tuesday brother. Be safe. and tell whoever it is that called you that the brotherhood in this forum doesn't take very kindly of its members being called up and harassed last minute, LOL.

I may have misunderstood this completely, but reading on their web-page, they sure seem to be closed, and might or might not open this fall.
As I understand it, the proprietor moved to WA and closed shop until further notice.
I sure hope I am wrong, 'cause I really like the Bay rum sweet orange shaving cream.
