Red face Is the Merkur HD stainless or protected against rust?

Well the question says it all I've just bought one for traveling but I'm not sure if it will rust or not if I leave it a bit wet (but clean). Many thanks

They are plated. Just shake the excess water from it and leave it to dry.

I have one and no problems yet...just rinse with hot water...shake and let it dry.

I don't think anyone has made a stainless safety razor ? The cost of machining would be way more then the brass or zinc that they use. The only rust issues I have had with DEs was from leaving blades in the razor. The blade would rust where it bears on the razor and leave stains.

Merkur handles I understand are chrome plated brass, whereas the heads are chrome plated zamac.

Lux makes (or made) a stainless DE razor. You can get one on the 'bay very inexpensively, and by inexpensive I mean $7.07. They're made in Poland they're heavy and built like the proverbial tank. I have one, purchased from the Polish seller.

Here's what the seller says about them:

These safety razors are produced in 1960-ties communist era Poland in city of Rawa Mazowiecka. Manufactured and shelved in army's warehouses stored for the event of war. Survived like new till today when defense department decided to let them go for some reason. So here they are as a remnants of era passed away. Once sold - there will be no more so if you are collecting them - this is your chance that is fading away (less than 100 left).

Must have in collection or as a shaving tool. These are not as today's cheap mass-produced safety razors; these are one of a kind, with little history attached.

Back than many things were possible like reverse engineering, copying, piracy etc. all supported by government. These razors are one of the endeavors of that sort.
