Thread: Disposal of used blades.

i cut a hole in the top of a jam jar, it's like a little piggy bank for blades. when i chuck it i'll wrap it up in duct tape to seal it up

the medicine cabinet at my parents house is about 45 years old, and it has a slot for "used blades" in the back. granted there's a pile of used safety blades at the bottom of the inside of the wall, but out of sight out of mind.

I had an old Lilac Vegetal As bottle (plastic), so I cut a slit in it to drop blades in and use that as my blade bank. It's perfect. :>

I bought a handful of those Feather razor disposal cans when I placed an order with I forget who; they were a buck apiece, fit well in my medicine chest and should hold several years' worth of blades at the rate I'm going through them, maybe decades' worth if I stick with straight razors exclusively, but I like to mix it up. I'm NOT going back to an electric.

That's what the straights are for. DE is for those days when quick and simple are required . Good idea though. I haven't seen a razor blade sharpener such as you mentioned. Any pictures?

Lillicraps razor blade hone. It glows in the dark under UV light as it's made from Uranium Glass!

I'd pass on the blade sharpening then! Cheap enough to not bother.

Your Avatar is the spitting image of a Jack I had thirty years ago, I know they all look similar but this could have been a photo of my dog.

Fantastic little dogs Jack Russels, game as you like, my pals and I used to race them on Sunday mornings in a local field, we would set up some hay bales and have a bit of old fur tied on a length of rope attached to the back of a pushbike, the rope was laid between the bales, one of us would pedal off as fast as you like and once the fur had hit a marker we would release the dogs, watching those dogs tear the hay apart trying to get at the 'rat' was a picture.
Then off to the pub for a session, happy days mate.

I hear ya osdset. This one is my second Jack. My first was too much of a hunter and got himself killed by a toxic toad (Marinus Bufus). We call them Cane Toads here...Verminous creatures. The little bloke in the avatar has been trained to leave them alone...So far so good. My neighbour has two Jacks that get to spend a bit of time at my place. My neighbour knows how much I love to see them running as a small pack. Great dogs with great personalities. Each one is totally different. I don't know that I will have another though. When this bloke goes, I will go for a Rhodesian Ridgeback next. I haven't had one of those yet and I do love their looks and their reputation as a loyal family protector. Although I could say that of both my Jacks too .

You could get a can of evaporated milk or coconut milk, punture a hole at the top, drain out the liquid, make a slot on the side of the can, near the top, to put the used blades in and then dispose of the filled can of used razor blades in the recycling bin. Very cheap and effective way.
