    Default "Mild" SE?

I hear the terms aggressive and mild thrown around a lot by people talking DEs - not so much SEs.

Is there such a thing as a more aggressive or mild mild SE, or are they all basically much of a muchness?

ATM I only have Everready's, but looking to expand, but want something that will give me a different kind of shave, but looking at Gems they seem pretty similar to Everreadys. SOmething else I should look at, or shoudl I just go DE, Valet or Rolls if I want something different?

Also, interested in people's perception of the aggressiveness of a ROlls or Valet autostrop vs everready or gem.

The mildest SE I've encountered is the Gem Featherweight it's not exactly Gillette Tech mild but by comparison to the 1912 Gem Juniors and certainly the open comb micromatics, it's pretty gentle. Although I can't confirm from personal experience I have heard the same thing about the G bar Gems as well.

Don't forget the Schick injector. Great razors and different then the ER or Gem.

+1 on Don's comment. I particularly like the old Bakelite handled model.

    otsheylnik,

The Micromatics, particularly open comb version are supposed to be more 'aggressive', though this probably the wrong term to use. More or less 'forgiving' is possible better

From my experience the 1912 is the most forgiving, followed by en-masse the Micromatic, G-Bar & 1924.

WRT the Schick Injectors, the later models (J - M) are less 'aggressive' than the 'E' & 'G' models, though again I would use the terms more or less 'forgiving' !

All the above 'aggressive' razors give superb shaves when used with the right technique.

That is one benefit of shaving with a straight - it gives you the correct technique to handle these 'aggressive' SEs !

    Good luck !

    Have fun !

    Best regards

    Russ

    Default Featherweight

Thanks for the replies. I've bid on a featherweight on the bay, so we will see how it goes.
