Goodfella safety razors
Gentlemen:
Have you tried the Goodfella double edge razor? From what I can see, it's a slick razor and beautifully made. I have heard it to be a considerably mild razor. I am curious to know your thoughts on the Goodfella. Thanks.
Regards,
Obie

ok.. i've regrouped from my laughter..
i too am interested in the goodfella razor.. from my understanding.. it's very well made and quite handsome..
however.. it's an extremely mild open comb razor.. two things i have no interest in.

Hello Ryan:
How right you are, my good friend. Beauty catches my eye and often doesn't let go. I've eyed the Goodfella for a while and my curiosity about it seems to grow daily. It's a good looking razor. That it is known to be an extremely mild razor makes me hesitate. Then again, every razor comes with certain characteristics that have learning and adjustment curves. I know I had it with the Pils and the Feather. In the end my curiosity might fade away, or I may end up clicking on the "BUY" button.
Regards,
Obie

don't do it obie.. it does catch my eye as well. i just don't see it being a razor you'd like in the end.. it's open comb.. it's very mild..
my vote goes towards picking up a handsome schick injector.. many very nice ones can be found in new condition at Razor Emporium | A gentleman’s source for his vintage shaving needs.

Victor, my good man, I'm with you on this one. The more I think about it the less likelihood I will like the Goodfella for the reasons you note. Tonight I took stock of my modest double edge razor collection and there are some other razors I prefer to add to it instead of the Goodfella. Here is my little collection:
Feather stainless
Edwin Jagger "Chatsworth" barley, lined
Edwin Jagger 89L
Muhle 89R
Merkur 38C "barber pole"
Mergress
(3) Gillette 1950s superspeed
(2) Gillette thick handle Techs
Weck (open comb)
Gillette Fatboy (I'd like to have another one in the fat handle version)
Gillette Goodwill open comb
I had several Gillette superspeeds — Red Tip, slims, etc. — which I gave up a while back and I wish I had not.
Anyway, the new additions to my little collection will probably be all Gillettes.
So no, for now I'll put the Goodfella out of mind.
Regards,
Obie

That is a very fine looking razor indeed. Of course, if it is known to be mild you could always up the aggression by using a very sharp blade like a Feather....

Who are you trying to kid Obie? Put it out of your mind? You may want to but you can't any more than a cow can stop mooing. It will eat at you until you just can't help yourself. Then in an effort rid yourself of the compulsion you will start to drink excessively and do drugs. So do yourself a favor and spare yourself the agony and torture and just buy it now. You won't like it on skid row.
