Vintage Ever Ready does this look right?
So I got a vintage ever ready but I was wondering about how the blade is held. This normal?
Notice the slight gap between the lid and blade?

That slight gap between the lid and blade ain't a biggie, the biggie is the blade stops. What model is it, looks to me like a 1912 ? if so than the blade stops should be on the very outer edges of the comb, kinda like two little tabs bent over backwards that the blade slides under to make it stop and hold it secure. 1914's have two little nibs that stick up and stop the blade from sliding forward, and have a tendency to wear off fairly easy. 1912's are awesome razors, give fantastic shaves with Gem PTFE "Teflon" coated blades AKA Ted Pella Blades

I would find a way to support the lid on a hard surface and give it a VERY GENTLE tap just once. Then close it with a blade in to see if you made any progress. Repeat as necessary. That gap would drive me nuts.

The blade holder " top part" does appear to be slightly warped in the middle. It shouldn't affect the function of the razor, it is merely asthetic.

It's off a bit. I would just use it and see what happens.

Sorry for late reply!
Yes both the nibs in the front are pristine as is the rest of the razor. I think its a 1912 but the box markings dont tell me much. There were 2 original blades with it. After scrubbing the 100 years of funk off with a toothbrush and CLR it shined like a new penny. All the gold plating is great. I do believe its a deal @ $20 off the bay. I will give it a shot tonight with a new PTFE blade and some proraso shaving soap and see if my face doesnt peel off from that gap. I think a small block of wood to brace the lid and maybe a small rubber/leather mallet would fix the warpy thing.

The date on that razor, you should find on the bottom, right were the handle screws into the head, around the thread hole it probably says PATD 1912, you won't even notice that tiny little warp, I think one or two of mine have the same, your shave will be Fantastic with that 1912 !
