    Found a Gillette slim J1 today for 10 bucks.

    Really Nice find for sure. Looks like it should clean up nice. I have a 1966 adjustable and love it.

    I got a 1961 slim for $10 a couple months ago by far my favorite de shave might I recommend either a feather (yellow) set at 6 or a merkur set at 7 for your first shave. enjoy

    I aggree! It is one of the very nice razors of Gillette, second only to the Fatboy. Get some better blades and when trying it, start out shaving at about midpoint 5 and see how it feels. Remember, only adjust the razor AFTER you have loosened the TTO doors. It allows the mechanism to shift while under NO pressure. Then re-tighten the TTO doors. Sometimes people adjust it during a shave while under tension and it simpy doesn't allow much, if any, change in blade exposure. If it is too milde at 5 go up a bit. You might reach your "happy" spot with that razor relatively quickly.
