Wow, reading this thread really makes me want to pull out some of my old toys. Back in the PSE (Pre-Straight Era) I was predominantly a Single Edge guy (Lather Catcher, 1912, and Micromatic Open Comb, probably in that order.) I did however, dabble in DE safety razors. In that genre, the Fat Boy was king, followed very closely by the Old Style Single Ring Open Comb. I've recently gifted my son the Fatboy (a 1960 version) and will have to find another. I really like the weight of a Fatboy and have always shaved with the dial somewhere between 7 and 9 consistently fabulous shaves.

I have been using this user grade aristocrat for the past week to test out the shave. I'm giving it to my gf (loaning it rather ) so she doesn't need her disposables for her legs anymore.

But my work horse is this Gillette NEW that desperately needs a replating. It's been cleaned since this picture.

My favourite is my Gillette Slim Adjustable! I have used many others and none have compared to the shave I get from that!

Wow, a lot more SE shavers than I would have thought!

It's kind of ironic that while searching in his basement for the almost unused Fatboy my dad has or used to have ... somewhere, he found a Gem 1912 in really good condition. I picked it up this evening and wasn't too excited about because I thought that all the blades currently produced in that size were for scrapping paint only. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that shaving-type blades are still being produced. I'mo get some and give it a whirl.

    Looks just like this one:

The case is like a fat cigarette case from the 30s:
