Taylor of Old Bond Street "Lemon & Lime" shaving cream
Hello, and welcome to part 3 of our new daily soap Robin's Great Lime Shoot-Out. The TOBS sample was kindly provided by the good people at The Different Scent in Berlin.
Packaging: Nice tub, really. It has a nice weight to it, and is easy to open and close even with wet fingers. The design is a bit bland, but we are looking at an English cream after all.
Texture: Perfect, I should say. Very thick, and dry cream. Light green colour.
Scent: "Lemon and Lime" indeed. The scent is unobtrusive, but it's there. The cream is loaded with essential oils, giving it a rather pleasant smell both in the jar and on the face. I like it a lot, albeit not quite as much as CF's lime.
Latherability: Great. Really great. A few swirls with my Mühle best badger brush, and little water. Refer to Illustrated Guide to making Überlather - Straight Razor Place Wiki for details. The lather is thick, rich, creamy, has a nice and light citrus scent (see above), and stays slick for a long time.
Cushion: Equally great. Used my Bart-honed Rodgers wedge in ivory, and the blade glided across the face just like it should. 2nd only to Castle Forbes, and maybe AOS. Very nice.
Moisturising: Plenty. I was able to skip the aftershave, and just go with my Dr Hauschka Tonic and Oil. Excellent.
Price: Here comes the good news. At EUR 15 for 150g, this cream is really quite inexpensive, making it a worthy competition for Castle Forbes's and AOS's lime creams.
Overall impression: Get a sample if you can. This is now my second favourite lime cream, after CF and before AOS.

Shavling
I love this brand of cream. As a newb this is the only stuff I could get real good lather from.
My is sandalwood secented but really, this stuff rocks. I like it better then CF to be honest, but that doesn't mean you will.

Serious Shaveaholic
Having used only one specific brand of shaving soap so far for my shaving (mis-)adventures I decided last week that it was time to open my mind and try out some other products. I came accross TOBS shaving creams and soaps in a small Barber Shop in NYC and, after sticking my nose into their entire collection at least twice, I ended up with, among others, the 'Lemon & Lime' and I am really enjoying it. I live in a warm and rather humid climate so I wanted a light, refreshing scent. This one hit the spot.
The packaging is solid, the texture of the cream is very nice, the latherability is excellent, the cushion feel is cushionny and it moisterizes nicely. The price is ok, considering that it is a nice quantity of a quality product.

Taylor of Old Bond Street Lemon and Lime Shave Cream
Gentlemen,
I wholeheartedly agree with Robin's review of this Taylor product. I have used most of their shave creams and cannot say enough good things about them.
An excellent review, Robin.
Regards,

I have been using there new line "Jermyn Street Collection" cream and I love the light scent, so does the girl. It is far more comfortable than the other two soaps i have, a amber sented glycern and Caswell-Massey "Green Brair".
I am now on a hunt for some of there other scents and products.

Taylor of Old Bond Street - Lime
Well, My shippment finally came in and I am having fun shaving with some new shave creams.. I ran out and bought the smaller portions of several different creams to evaluate. Some cheap, some middle of the Road and some Expensive for me. Not CF prices but some above average.
I needed to know if it makes that much difference. Do you really get what you pay for? Well... so far there is definitely a difference. But how much.. that is very subjective. I've tried this TOB product and one other much less expensive and I do notice a difference. After I've tried the others I'll be able to make a better comparison... so I've got some shaving to do.
Packaging. I bought the tub on this one and I like a tub I thought the colors and design could be improved and mine came already partly worn off or is that supposed to be some retro look ... like faded jeans
Texture: You know... mine also wasn't stiff lather like some others or hard like AOS. Pretty soft, but I like it and it applies easily to the brush
Scent: I love the scent... I'm anxious to try the sandlewood because I love sandlewood from AOS... I don't like the scent of Trumper Sandlewood
Latherability: Here I didn't find it to lather as easily as Trumper:Harris:AOS: or Other English Creams.. I'm trying different water amounts now to see if it likes more or less water
Cushion: I like the cushion .. here is where I can tell a difference! really
Moisturising: The best I've tried so far of any products.. very impressed and I have extremely dry skin... quit using some of my products for moisturization... my wife is happy cause they are expensive. Lots of Moisture here!!
Price: If you try enough.. you know this is a good deal! Great Job on price
Overall Impression: This is one of my very favorite products.. bought others purposely to compare and I have a hard time leaving this one alone. The scent is light and fresh and the moisturising is exquisite. I can't say enought about the cushion and glyde provided with this product. I have a little problem making the kind of lather I like.. but it's a small inconvienience considering the other pluses.. Hey... maybe its me.. If I figure it out I'll write an addendum...
