    Default Proraso shave cream

    Shaving Soaps/Shaving Creams reviews: Proraso

Packaging: Little green tub. Highly functional and travels well in a suitcase.

    Texture
    :

Scent: Bingo! Eucalyptus/Menthol. I guess a person either like this or they don't. I do a lot. I've never like a menthol shave cream before but this is different in my opinion.

    Latherability: Lathers up great.

Cushion: I rated "cushion" as N/A because I'm not sure I understand the term. If it means "comfort" then it should be a 9 or 10 in my book.

    Moisturising: Very comfortable.

Price: I've paid more for shaving cream but haven't liked anything better than this.

    Overall impression:

I've tried a lot of different shave soaps now (Tabac, AOS sandalwood soap, a home-made glycerine type I got from a guy on ebay) and I haven't disliked any of those. In my opinion they all have something to be said for them. I think Prosaso is a level above all those.

I also like the Proraso pre-shave, which is a cream (not an oil). Using the pre-shave, and the shave soap together to shave after a hot shower is really a journey into luxury in my opinion.

Also I use the "pre-shave" from proraso as a post shave as well. I'm not sure if that's recmmmended but it really works well.

I think I have found my recipe:

    1. hot shower
    2. apply proraso pre-shave
    3. lather apply proraso shave soap
    4. shave (repeat 3 and 4 as desired depending how close your'e going for)
    5. cold rinse
    6. apply alum block (count to 10..)
    7. cold rinse again
    8. dry face and apply the pre-shave again as a moisturizer/healer.

Sounds like I must be on the payroll at Proraso but really I am not. I'm just glad I tried this pair of products together.

Charlie - Thanks ever so much for your review...I think Proraso is a great shave cream too. Personally, I prefer the tube formulation, but the bowl formulation you reviewed gets the job done as well.

BTW...Have you tried Ingram's shaving cream? I has menthol like Proraso, but no eucalyptus. I like the scent better than Proraso, but don't think it develops as much lather where i live which is a hard water area.

Default My very first str8 shave...was with Prorasso

I started using Prorasso about a year and a half ago with a brush and a Mach 3, just before I discovered straights.

The scent always reminds me of when I first started and provides a warm and nostalgic feeling.

I actually started on the white tub which is for extra sensitive, but I now have the green and the pre shave to complement.

It is pretty much between a cream and a soap if you were to compare it to a tripple milled soap or just a hard soap like TOBS or TI for example. It is very soft, but no where as soft as a cream, which Prorasso produce as a separate product which I may eventually try.

I love this soap and it is among my favourites. For the price it is great, but I like variety and some days prefer a different scent, some days I like Prorasso! Same as razors really!

All in all, a great soap and Italian made. Im waiting for my Italian Cella to arrive...

    Hi Henry,

As far as I know and from what I heard from Italy, the soap in the tub and the soap in the tube are the same. There is a different soap in a tub, which is the one for sensitive skin (green tea, white tub)

    Bye,

    Eric

    Default good stuff

Just bought this along with another cream as a first alternative to soaps. My impression is highly favorable. I gave a middle of the road rating on packaging because I bought the (metal) tuble variety. It feels good on the skin, lathers up very well and fairly easily and has a nice glide and cushion to it. I like it a lot!

    Talking Menthol

I live in Arizona, so I was looking for something to cool me off in the hot summers. It's not summer yet but I gave the pre shave cream, shave cream and after shave a try. Very nice stuff. I used a little pre shave cream after the shave to moisten the face. Proraso is going to make the 100+ degree temps. a little more tolerable.

    Shave On!
