Thumbs up Da Bomb - Vetiver

With all this talk about 'Da Bomb' shaving cream I decided it was time to find out for myself. I contacted Alraz and told him I wanted to try a Vetiver scented shaving cream. We exchanged some PM's as 'Da Bomb' is custom made and Alraz needed all the information needed to build the cream to my specs.

I've tried my share of soaps and creams during my shaving career and I'm always on the lookout for true Vetiver scented products. I'm mostly after the true hardcore pungent, grassy, earthy, smoky smell of Vetiver. It's an acquired taste and it's basically a love or hate thing. The wife call's it the celery scent. The only real vetiver cream I have used so far is Cyril L Slater's French Vetiver which smells wonderful.

Packaging: It comes in a dark blue plastic tub with a thin plastic covered lid that fits on the tub itself to help make it airtight. You close the tub with a black plastic lid.

Nothing fancy but sturdy and efficient. The dark color of the tub I'm sure has to do with blocking any external light as to preserve the cream.

Texture: It actually reminds me a lot of the Castle Forbes texture. Between a cream and soap. It's got that thick, sticky kind of texture to it.
I just load the cream from the tub as it works easier for me. I then take everything to a bowl and start lathering. You could also take your brush straight to face lathering.

Scent: The scent is true Vetiver. Earthy, smoky, grassy,... You can smell the vetiver throughout the lathering process and during face lathering. Pure heaven if you love the scent. It's as close as it can get. It smells so close to Cyril L Slater they could be family. Sublime.

'Da Bomb' is originally made to not be overpowering in scent but just use the right amount and perfect combination. Whch it actually does.
I love this scent so much I could take a much higher dosage.
So for me personally it could be boosted a notch higher but for most people it's probably enough.

Latherability: I've heard many different stories from people trying to lather Da Bomb. I had no problems whatsoever and I have extreme hard water. I would say about 2 minutes of swirling with and against the clock. It just started to explode in a nice, thick, creamy wonderful lather. Perfect

Cushion: I found the cushioning very adequate. Alraz had tested the cream before sending it out and took some points of for cushioning. I personally didn't notice any performance loss and was satisfied with the cushioning. Now the slickness! that's how every cream should perform. That gets a 5 star rating. One of the slickest cream I have ever shaved with. Kudos.

Moisturizing: Where this cream really excels, besides the excellent slickness and scent is the moisturizing. I did not have to use any A/S balm, cream, lotion, splash,.. you name it. My face felt so slick, moisturized, sealed and healthy after my final rinse I pinched my cheeks twice to make sure I wasn't dreaming. And considering the extra sensitive skin I have that's a miracle. I don't know if the Vetiver oil has any part of this but I can tell 'Da Bomb' uses lots of quality ingredients.

Price: Price hovers around the English creams. A little goes a long way and I don't care to pay for quality products. It's worth every dime. Plus it's done with love by a great person that truly stands behind his creams.

Overall impression: I am very impressed with Da Bomb. The really outstanding scent, slickness and moisturizing make this cream a winner in my book. I had to find out for myself and I don't regret it one second. On the contrary, now I can't wait for my next shave.
