Thumbs up Geo F. Trumper "Sandalwood" Shaving Cream

Hello, and welcome to the third and last part of our new daily soap Robin's Great Sandalwood Shoot-Out. Yesterday's product was http://www.straightrazorplace.com/fo...ing-cream.html, and it was not good at all. The Trumper sample was kindly provided by the good people at The Different Scent in Berlin.

Packaging: Sturdy, functional tub with a screw top. I am still not a fan of their design, but it works well enough.

Texture: Thick, but creamy. Loading brushes of various stiffness is easy.

Scent: Right. CF was too much, AOS was quite good, TOBS was a little strange, and Salter downright horrible. So, is there any cream manufacturer who can reproduce the rich, sweet, fragrant yet delicate, woody, floral scent of sandalwood? Yes, Trumper can. The scent is as close to the original as can get (by 'original', I mean high quality sandalwood, not some mass produced convenience stuff that aims to please). Trumper's use of essential oils pays off in this department.

Latherability: Perfect. A few swirls with my Mühle best badger brush, and little water. The lather is thick, rich, creamy, has a nice and light sandalwood scent , and stays slick for a long time.

Cushion: Almost perfect. The lather plays in the same league as TOBS, and is 3rd only to Castle Forbes, and of course Caraceni. Very nice.

Moisturising: Lots of it. Enough to skimp on the after shave balm. Fortunately, I had a bit of Sandalwood Skin Food lying around, and they were simply made for each other.

Price: USD 25 or thereabouts for 200g - a steal. The tub will go a long way, too.

Overall impression: Great performance, great price - and a perfect sandalwood scent. If you are looking for 'the best' sandalwood scented cream, look no longer. If you do not like Castle Forbes's sandalwood scent, that is.

    Default Geo Trumper Sandalwood

I have purchased this shaving creame on the recomendation of this review
Packaging: I found the packaging attractive and effective
    Texture: The texture was nice
Scent: This however I do not prefer, i.e. in comparison to AOS which I like very much. I believe this scent somehow resembles the smell of a dirty ashtray. Somewhat woody, albeit unpleasant to me.
    Latherability: very nice latherability
    Cushion: above average cushion
    Moisture: very good
    Price: Reasonable and competative
Overall Impression: We are all so different. I like the overall creme in that the packaging, textue, moistue, and latherabiltiy are very good. However I am having a hard time getting past the cigarette smell that this scent resembles to me. I don't get that sensation from AOS sandalwood and it makes me curious what TOB sandalwood would smell like to me. Different strokes for different folks and obviously different noses too!
