Thread: How often do you shave?

Just curious as I take to my straights more and more, how often do you shave?

Given the added time and effort with a straight and that beards reportedly soften as they grow, I started wondering how frequently people actually shave with a straight. The speed at which your beard grows back is likely pertinent to your answer.

For me, I have definite stubble appearing the next day (perhaps as my technique improves so will this, not sure) and I love a smooth shave so I shave every day (100% straights now).

I could shave every day, but it has become an every other, due to time. I also have been focusing on just getting to DFS (Damn fine shave) rather than BBS. noramlly can be done in two passes.

My beard grows back pretty fast so I normally shave my face every day (I sometimes skip Sunday), and I use a SR. I shave my head every 2 or 3 days and use a double edge Merkur Slant.

I shave everyday except Fridays. I work in an office with not so strick a dressing code; but the boss wants us well groomed. I have a heavy beard specially below the jawbone and neck and do have the five o'clock shadow the next day...if I skip a day, I look like a bum.

I've been using a straight razor for about two weeks now. I dove right in and did a full face shave, and did it everyday for about 5 days straight.

Due to a nicked up face, and razor burn, I decided to cut back to every other day, to give my skin some time to repair. It also let me take a step back to look at my prep and technique.

I think I will continue in this fashion until I get a better handle on things. Once that is in place, I would like to shave every day, time permitting, because I find it relaxing, and being bbs feels awesome.

Every 2 days...but sometimes get lazy and grow it out for a week or so.
I dont like to rush my shave, so if I feel rushed, I just wont shave.

Every day with a straight razor exclusively for the past couple of years. Before that every day with a DE for a couple of years. Before that almost every day with a Gillette 'Good News' for forty for so years.

I am not required to shave at work, so if I skip a day it is not a problem. Normally I try to shave every day, as the reason that I am doing this is for the pure joy of shaving. THAT is one of the main reasons that I am not really sold on doing an ATG pass and getting a BBS shave. If I do that, I don't necessarily NEED to shave every day. I don't want to lose the day of shaving just to have a smoother face for a bit, especially when no one is rubbing my face anyway.

Count me in for shaving everyday — with rare exceptions due to emergencies or unusual circumstances. If extremely short on time, I switch to double edge.

Wet shaving with a straight razor pleases me, so I try to spoil myself with its many pleasures everyday.

It is phenomenal how often this question comes up and it is phenomenal how consistently I've answered that question. When I had a beard - never. Since I started shaving again - every day.

Strop every day too. Same same lather... splash... brush teeth... comb hair... shower... etc.



Although, sometimes I don't make my bed. Believe me, it's rough having to deal with being a bad person...
