Default Just Taught My Son How to Straight Razor Shave...

...So cool, one of those real 'father/son' moments. Aaron agreed it was WAY cool, and much better than shaving with a plastic shaver (well, he would, he's a bit of a hippie). He did very well. He said the experience was 'very intense'. He's now is the proud owner of my Emil Kronenberg 1/2 hollow 5/8. This is the razor I refurbished a little and honed, a very nice shaver; very 'forgiving' (smooth)... He said, "You know, you never actually taught me to shave [before] and now at 20 you're teaching me to shave with a STRAIGHT razor..."

Nice one Carl, I'm slowly teaching our boy to shave too (he's 14 and he really wants to use a straight, but I'm holding that off for a while more, he has got a NEW DE saftey razor for now and he's pretty good at it ).

Ha! So funny, my younger son (13 almost 14) now that he's seen his older brother shave with a straight wants one too (he wants the Eric Anton Berg). A few weeks ago I offered to show him how (though he has nothing to shave) and he wasn't interested. But NOW that his older brother has been taught, he wants to as well. I told him to wait a little. You know, YEARS ago, it would have been necessary to teach your sons to shave; it's not really needed with a Bic piece of plastic. Maybe some of us are re-inventing all this, and well done to us all I say!

That sounds like a very cool moment Carl.....I've no kids yet, but when that happens, I think I'll want that moment as well.

    Good on 'ya, Carl!

Only one of our boys is "of shaving age" (16), although I say that very loosely - he's got one of those really bad teen staches and about 5 hairs on his chin. At the moment he seems too proud to want to shave the works off, and he shows zero interest in my SR's. Which is okay for me, since I'd have to teach him the coup de maitre right off the hop....

Very cool moment! I used my straight razor to shave the back of my son's neck after giving him a low profile mohawk haircut for wrestling season. He loved it and asked about when I would teach him how to use a straight razor. I told him when he is older......that was a cool moment as well.
