    Default Straight once again

Hi, I'm new to the forum, and sort of a "newbie" to straight razors...I used to use one in my college days but have not since then. I've been using a DE for a while now, and decided to give the straight a try again. I got a shavette style of razor, and after using it without much trouble, I decided to get a Dovo and a strop. I'll be using it for the first time today, and will post the results. Reasons for doing so? Getting away from wasting all those blades; the fact that it forces you to slow down a bit, instead of rushing (life is too fast paced as it is);the "art" of straight razor shaving; much closer shave; it feels good. And that was with a shavette!
I got away from the multi blade world a while ago as I think the price of replacements is ridiculous, and the shave was not that good.

I'm looking for natural shaving soaps or creams - i.e. no parabens or other harmful chemicals - any suggestions?

Mitchell's Wool Fat shaving soap might fit the bill. Widely available mail-order, and claims to be made according to an old formula. I haven't seen the ingredient list.

Thanks, guys for the suggestion, I will check them out. Shaved with the Dovo today, not as good a shave as the shavette, so it's either my technique or my stropping. No nicks or cuts, though, but had to make a couple of WTG passes to get a satisfactory shave. I have patience...
    I will try again tomorrow.

Nivea sensitive skim post-shave balm... I use after the witch hazel because the alcohol after shaves irritate my face. Great product if you have a sensitive face.
