    Default Nasty Cut

This morning, I really did it. I gave myself a deep cut. (No, I'm not posting pictures of this wound). I had just finished the first pass, WTG on my neck and rinsed my blade under running water. When I brought the razor back up, I wasn't paying attention to where my other hand was and brought the blade right into my thumb. Dumb, dumb, dumb. The cut must be about a half inch. Much to my surprise, the bleeding was fairly little and easily controlled by direct pressure. I've worn a band-aid all day with no bleeding through. But it still hurt like hell. As I recall, the last bad cut was on one of my fingers too. Maybe I should start wearing gloves when I shave.

Sorry you cut yourself and hope it heals quickly. We all bleed for this way of shaving.

Yup, it happens to all of us, even the seasoned veterans. But at least you admit to, and own up to, the main cause

I've received three vertical cuts on my face in the last 2 weeks, but they heal fast. Due to inattention, and all with a wedge. Hmmm.

If you had to cut yourself, you did it with the right tool for quick healing. A razor, like a scalpel, makes a clean cut at will heal quicker than one from a pocket knife or a serrated blade like a bread knife.

Please keep an eye open for any signs of infection, like swelling or redness in combination with abnormal warmth of the area around the cut.

    Glad it wasn't worse.

It's taken a month to fully heal from my last slip. I had dropped my safety razor, while shaving my head ,and reached too quickly to keep it from bouncing around in the sink. That cat-like reflex took an inch and a half by 1/16th layer of skin off the top of my ring finger.

    You are not alone.

Actually, if the cut is vertical (as in perpendicular to the blade when it occurred) there is a good chance that there might be a tiny burr on the edge. Assuming, of course, that you didn't catch the tip....

As a matter of fact, there was redness ... my face when I realized my stupidity! Thanks for the words of support, guys.
