I think I finally got it!
After about three months of shaving with a straight I can finally.say not to bad. No more touching up with a multiblade. Still not totally BBS, but close enough. I am loving it.
I started with deal from Whipped Dog, and soon saw this.was something I enjoyed. From there I bought a Dovo and bridle leather strop from SRD. that gave me two nice razors to start with. Now I am also the proud owner of a Thiers Issard with black horn scales. I am hooked bad.
Now I need a silvertip badger and I will.be happy, st least till the next toy comes along

Working the day watch out of Bunco
I'm glad to see your message. I've been getting discouraged reading about guys who seemed to have great shaves on their first go-around. I'm about six weeks into it and suffer the occasional nick on the chin and always have to touch up with my DE. Was starting to think maybe this wasn't for me, but I'm encouraged by your post. And I'm happy to hear you're now getting decent shaves.

Congratulations, I remember when I had the same feeling of accomplishment after about the same period of time. It is just smooth sailing from hear keep it up and your only regret will be that you didn't start sooner.

When I first started out I looked like Freddy Kruger shaved with his fingers. After a few weeks ( About 1 month) I was getting BBS shaves. Some ppl are lucky to start off with few to no cuts/knicks, But others like me need to get them to learn how not to cut/knick Myself.

Pacho3,
Don't get discouraged. I've been straight shaving for almost a year and I'm still working on figuring out my neck. Occasionally I have to touch up my neck with a DE and more often than not I come away with some redness on my neck (not uncomfortable and goes away withing an hour).
Hang with it, it's a process of discovery.

Congratulations. I'm about 1.5 months but am strongly considering using my left hand vs. my dominant hand for the left side. It makes me nervous, but it shouldn't. I have great hand control from mountain biking, so we shall see.
