    Default Native American ? Greaves.

I grabbed this Greaves blade off the bay. Great old profile and cheap.
If I took 1 shot I took 200 but here is the best I could get.

I haven't even touched the tang yet. Because I discovered something else that has all my attention.

Well there you have it. If anybody has a better shot of this etch I would appreciate a post of it. Might save me some hours in Photoshop.
I may be able to someday put this etch back on if I lose it in the restore. Then again I am not in any hurry to restore this piece so it will probably go in the roll with my other Sheffield keeper blades. I was looking for a quick fix and turn but Dang I have to go shopping again. I am not in any hurry for that either. My Doc says that we will find a cure for this RAD thing. I keep telling him nobody has yet. In fact I may be having early symptoms of HAD. There is no denying the DDDDDDDuck thing.

Schweet, Pups! Greaves was quite prolific in US imports back when. I gave Dennis one with 'Kentucky" as an etch and next up in my rotation is a "General Scott" Greaves. Don't obliterate the blade etch! Greavses have souls. Don't mess with them! HAR!

If I would have known it had an etch I might have let it sit :<0) I already feel guilty for cleaning it up enough to read the darn thing.

Sadly, some of the old etches are faint. Yet still there. Do we obliterate them? Or leave them be? I say leave them. Find a plain one to grind on. JMO

I saw that blade & almost bid on it but I didn't. I have several Greaves blades that I need to work on now! So the pic of al the Greaves I have in the Greaves razor club is inaccurate. I forgot all about the unfinished blades I have! BTW, very nice blade & I'm glad that it went to a worthy home!

Thanks for the link post Bongo. I have seen that and next time I see Zak I will know more :<0)

Tom I won't ever grind an etch. I have a hard enough time saving them just using mass. I took some 2500g to it to get the red out and some of the black. The etch is a little more clear to read but somebody else's handy dandy grit marks remain. Something will have to be done someday and that will be after I learn to etch. If I can't put it back the way it was it will stay like it is. It's not like I don't have 75 other projects going to take my mind off it. I have resigned to the fact that if I can't restore something to it's original state than I will just be a collector of certain pieces. I may try to make it shave and I will make some scales for it at least. Just not soon. Into the roll of Sheffs it goes. Each one of these etches should be saved for the future. Especially if I know of no others.

    That is cool!
Glad you are going to save the etching.
    On a side note:
I got to talking with 10 pups and he infected me with duck fever. Be careful around him....

    Yes I have had one.
Bad thing is I would have to look for it.
Not sure if I sold it or not.

Don't try and get me hooked on those now....
I have enough RAD with the Ducks...
