Man Garrison that's wonderful! I still have a chunk of rail I need to make into an anvil. Great job!

Freshly acquired from the wilds... AM Hone Co., Olean NY, Cushioned Strop Back Hone. Still has the box, although tattered, and that's probably why it's in such good shape. No gouges or chips also the leather looks good. Anybody have experience with these? Looks like it would be great in a travel kit.

Not bad at all, just dry. I just cleaned it with Bick 1 and am slowly working a little Bick 4 into it to re-hydrate.

That my friend is a very fine barber's hone, it will definitely refresh a razor easily with just a minimal amount of strokes, very aggressive, Enjoy!

A bit of neats foot applied to a moistened rag, then rub in and let dry a few day...repeat.

The water helps open the pores to draw the oil in.

I'm trying out the Bick on this after seeing how well it rehydrated Tom's boar hide strops. I have some 100% neatsfoot so if the Bick don't get me there I'll try that.

Thanks! The hone has a sort of glazed surface, glassy. Do I need to do anything to it or is this as it should be?
