I've got a similar Rodgers I acquired a few months ago, but without the thumb notch and likely more of a hollow - particularly since it's labelled "The Celebrated Hollow Ground Razor"

A different sort I have had for a long time. Rodgers did some unusual stuff!

Love it! I agree, and that's part of what's had me on the hunt, but the unusual stuff doesn't seem to crop up as much. I look at some of the old JR&Sons advertisements, and you see all kinds of neat looking blade shapes, but you don't see them come up as often (at least on the Bay).

I'm sure others know the history of the brand better and could opine as to why there's typically only 30 JR&Sons eBay listings at any given time compared to like 300 for W&Bs.

If you look at the pile of Wade and butchers on there, half are junk. The other half priced high.
Seems they cranked-out jillions. Most like old Volkswagens and Model Ts.
    Some nice and fine....

To me, Rodgers seemed to be upscale and prolific as it could be.
Few old rough Army-types of them as compared to other makers.
I will say that that old wedge I linked-to is nothing fancy.
Pretty basic except the ivory, condition, and the grob.

John Heiffor also comes to mind. They made the absolute finest and also the most crude.

Was all about making money. Question was, who's money?

1+! Such a cool blade, indeed.

Sort of a factory 'hot rod'!
