    Default F.W. Engels 5/8

    Hi Guys,

Already a couple of months ago I got this F.W. Engels 5/8, but my speed on the web is slow.
I got it from a vendor on ebay, then send it to Lynn to receive some of his magic.

I must say I was attracted to the F.W. Engels razors because of the looks.
The lean design and square-point shape of the blade emphasized by the mirror polish is one thing.
But the old style German faux ivory scales with the boy-and-girl ornament does the final trick.

Its 5/8 size handles comfortably and the spike point, which I asked Lynn to retain, helps with the edges around my nose.
It keeps you on your toes though. I kinda like it that way. Makes you feel you're DOING something.

There is no room for errors. The incrowd might say: 'Ah, Paul, spike point this morning, huh?'
Then you can't BS your way out with: 'No no, the cat, and uh..., you know claws..., and uh...'

Anyway, here are some pics of my little pleasure.

    Warm regards/ hartelijke groeten.

    Paul Jansen

Nice blade. Those FWE's are really nice shavers.

Very clean and well-done! That's Hansel and Gretl with her telling him to stay away from the witch! (I think) You and Lynn receive an A+. Good work! Get it on, Tom

Congrats on having a very nice looker and shaver of a razor. I learned to shave with a square point. It took a while to get used to it w/ one or two cuts along the way but I don't even think about the tip any more. Enjoy this beauty.

    Paul,
Well...isn't this just serendipitous! I shaved this morning with an FWE Special. Pretty much the same razor but with a blued tang and no children. If yours shaves as nicely as mine...you are indeed lucky! You have a handsome razor and a fine tool. ENJOY!!!

    hartelijke groeten auch,
    Jimbo

Sharptonn, Thanks for the Hansel and Gretl info. Interesting. Never too old to learn, I guess.
