    Default ERN Junior

I got this little guy today and man am I happy with it! It looked a little dingy and plain in the photos, which is probably why I got it for less than a pizza. But the scales are silver, the blade is in near pristine shape and even the leather carry pouch is holding up.

Digging through the forum here I was only able to find one other like it and that one was these scales on another blade. This one has some tiny nicks that'll need to be honed out, but it's just an over all neat razor in-hand. The blade snaps into place with a click and needs a bit of pressure to open again, it has good weight and I'm betting it'll take a sweet edge.

Fair assumption as long as the new edge has healthy steel. Ern's are sweet shavers.

It's got a TINY bit of rust at the edge, but is mostly vast swathes of clean, clean steel. It is by FAR the cleanest blade I've gotten from eBay, especially considering it's 80-90 years old and has been used (though looking at the spine I would guess it's been honed very little, and well).

    Sounds good.
Used to have a square point Barbers Pet also by C.F.Ern. The family were quite prolific blade smiths.

Huh. I got curious about the silver content of German silver.

German silver is to silver what French ivory is to ivory. IE: fake. It's 60% copper, 20% nickel and 20% zinc.

That explains why it wasn't more tarnished!
(I haven't had a chance to get this little fellow honed yet, however...)

Very cool Void! I like the gunstock scales and the leather case is just too sweet.
