My uncle surprised me with a great gift tonight and gave me this razor that belonged to my grandfather. I never got to meet him because he passed away several years before I was born but everyone always says that I'm just like him and some of the old pictures I have of him look like they're me only in black and white. So all this made it really cool to have something of his that I can use. I'm going to polish it up and hone it tomorrow and maybe see how it shaves even though I'm off work till next year and didn't plan on shaving. Looks to be a little over 6/8 so I'm hoping it shaves well.

Awesome. Looks it's just a light polish and a honing to deliver great shaves.

Hello Belair... Merry Christmas to you and your family...

That is a sweet memory of your granddad! Try a soap with it, and if you like it, use it. Thanks for sharing that with us. As about brushes, you can get an excellent Semogue boar at a very low price or several quality badger brushes without breaking the bank. Some brands that come to mind are Vulfix, Simpson, EJ, etc.

    Regards,
    Andrea

It's nice to receive a gift that has such meaning. It something that can be used, cared for and passed on.

Family Heirlooms are wonderful to have. I have some stuff from my Grandfather as well. Merry Christmas and enjoy your razor.

Just an update, I honed, stropped, and shave with it this morning. I just did one pass but it shaved great! Definitely a worthy addition to my small but growing rotation!
