I got this in the mail today. I'm thinking about making it a lagniappe JaNorton blade.

From the look of it, I don't think it's ever been honed. There is no visible wear on the spine and the bevel -- while not hair-cutting sharp -- is among the tiniest I've ever seen. There's very, very little patina or tarnish anywhere on the metal. Just one spot on the spine toward the toe and a *tiny* bit of rust around the pivot.

I have that same razor, got it in real rough shape but it was one of my first usable razors. Since then I gave it a mild restoration and dulled the blade completely, my 5 year old son shaves beside me quite frequently with it!
Enjoy that blade, I'm a big fan of anything shoulderless!

Nice work! Those Mabs are small razors. They are big on shaves, though. I will get a pic of mine on tomorrow. There is a nice, original ad in the "library"!

Yeah, I was looking at all the pictures for Mab razors over on the Wiki. You can tell these things were made just after the turn of the century, when all the old fairy stories had been taken to the buffing wheel to get all the scratches, pits and horribly maimed children out. Before the Great Sanitizing, I kind of doubt anyone would want to put something associated with the Queen of Fairy on their face, lest it turn the hairs into stick insects or something.

They're really lovely little razors though!
