Thread: Genuine black Escher w/label????

My most recent ebay purchase!
I have been looking for an escher on ebay for a year now, finally found one I could afford!

does anyone know where this fits in with the other eschers? or is it just a really dark blue?

Also, this is the first one I have seen with the writing in german.

I saw it and I'm assuming it is a dark blue. Please update and post better photos after you've received it and lapped it. FWIW, the only vintage price list I've seen of an Escher vendor lists dark blue, blue green, light green and yellow green. This doesn't mean there weren't other variations. I've spoken to Escher collectors who are not associated with SRP who tell me of a "brown" Escher. These are two independent individuals who are not acquainted with each other, but I've yet to see one with my own eyes , either in person , or in photos.

That appears to be an Escher back label in remarkably good condition. I've gotten them like that or worse. Here is a thread with better photos of the same type and other types of Escher back labels as well. Escher Back Labels

Whatever you do... please do not remove the label, without it the value (proof of identity) goes down.

Nice stone, slightly bigger than the standard 5x1" size. You got it for a good price too I was expecting it to go for more

I didnt realize it was that small although, at our last meet Im sure I remember being amazed at how small other eschers were.
Were you guys watching that one that sold today for $577? The wife went from "you spent how much on a stone?" to "why didn't you buy two" lol.

Congratulations. I hoped that i'll sell that stone for little bit more . It's black in colour and the label on the side says "Willhelm Haydemann Bromberg". Bromberg is german name for polish city Bydgoszcz used during WWII. I hope you'll be happy with that stone.

Sorry, Jimmy I was talking about the small round sticker on the side ... I just realized that you may have considered that I didnt know what an escher label was
