    Default Posting on Classified

Sorry to be the 100th person to post but for some reason i don't see anywhere to post a razor for sale on the classified section. Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Michael

In 'straight razors', on my screen the blue toolbar has 'place an ad' as one of the options. It is on the far right.

Ah yes... we wondered when this would happen...

We do have a requirement of 100 posts and 3 months membership, at which point you automatically get access to post ads. However, the spirit of that limitation was to restrict the classifieds for actual, contributing members. You know, people who are part of this community. The specified number of posts and membership time were just the numbers we came up with.

What happens sometimes is that people try to be sneaky and just race towards 100 posts by posting dozens of junk messages in a row, saying nothing more than 'cool', 'nice razor' or 'welcome to srp', and then just wait until the 3 months kick in. You did exactly that. You may not have noticed but at one point you even welcomed yourself to SRP, which was a first, I admit.

So in cases like those, I can remove the automatic granting of access for specific users until the moderator team deems the 'membership' criterium fulfilled. And that is why you can't post ads to the classifieds.

    Actually, no.

I'm sure that plenty of people get in some extra posts to get early access. We virtually never make a big deal out of it because then we have to start evaluating whether a post is a contribution or not, etc. No can do.

But several mods are active in the beginner and general forum, and if someone suddenly posts dozens of posts in a row which say nothing more than 'welcome to SRP', he stands out. And if one of those posts is a welcome to himself, then you can imagine that is out of the ordinary enough that we'll remember.
