This might be a stupid question, but I can't seem to use a photograph for my avatar. (I'm not computer savvy at all!) How would I get a photograph I took onto this site? (This includes using photo's in posts.)

Never a dull moment
To use a photograph for your avatar, you need to make it digital so that the computer can use it. You'll want to scan it into a digital image. From there you can click on the "Settings" link toward the upper right hand corner of this webpage, which should take you to your settings page. From there, you should see an "Edit Avatar" link on the left side menu under "My Settings", and you want to click that. Then select option 2, click the "Browse" button, and then follow the on-screen instructions to tell SRP where your photograph-turned-digital image is. That should do it.
Using photos in posts is the same basic idea, but the process is different. I suggest taking this one step at a time and getting your avatar in place

In the Chat room!
Hi.
An ordinary digital photo would be much to large a file to use as an Avatar.
What you need to do is shrink it down to about 100*100 pixels in either the bmp or jpg format.
Just use your photoediting software to archive it as the above. Archive as or export is usually the command you are looking for.
When it comes to uploading pics to the site, you just click the go advanced when replying or creating a new thread.
When you do, you'll get an icon that when clicked allow you to upload pics to the site.
Once that is done, hit the same button again, and the software will insert it in your post at the marker.
I hope that made sense to you

Thanks for the info guys. It's a great help, as like I said before, computers aren't my forte. Now to see if this works!
