    Default Neutrogena skin clearing shave cream

    I saw it in the store, and I like Neutrogena products so I decided to try it.

    Ok this is not a shave soap or cream like I'd imagined, you don't need a brush, and it doesn't lather. It does give good lube, but absolutely no cushion. The scent was unremarkable, not good, but not offensive either.
    I tried it earlier on a test shave, and I even tried to lather it up with a brush...
    It works, and could be a good travel alternative.
    as for quality, I'd rate it at a solid 6

    Now for the fun part...
    I decided to try it as a pre shave, so I lubed up after a nice hot shower, and left it on while stropping my razor (7/8 Henckels Froidur spanish point)
    and then proceded to make up my usual lather using mamabears hydrogen shave soap.
    First pass was good, and might have been slightly better than my usual...
    for my second pass I tried adding a little to my lather and seeing if it would make a decent uberlather...
    WoW. If there is one thing I would improve on mamabears soaps it's the lube, and this did it. the lather took on a creamier texture, and my razor just glided across my face. this was an ATG pass, and it felt more like XTG my skin stayed moist and slippery even after the razor had passed.
    I acomplished a very near BBS in 2 passes with no irritation. In fact I'm writing this contemplating how silky smooth and irritation free my face is without using any aftershave.
    This may very well become a regular addition to my shave routine.

    Okay for a break down...
    lather = 0
    cushion = 2
    lubrication = 8
    scent = 5 (faint and unremarkable)

    overall = 6

    Uberlather with mamabear soaps
    lather = 8.5
    cushion = 8
    lubrication = 7
    scent = 9

    overall = 8.5

    note: mama bears soaps would rate an 8 in my books... and 10 is darn near impossible.

    The only thing I don't like about her soaps is they are so wonderful and lathery I have trouble holding onto the brush... ok, maybe that's the brush's fault.

    I've gotta get a rubber grip for my brush.

    For those of you who are thinking of getting this, it might help to see what it looks like (I had a bit of trouble trying to find it).

    Here's Neutrogena's page for it: http://www.neutrogena.com/men/MenDet...oductLineID=10

    And here is an image:

    Default Neutrogena "Skin Clearing" Shave

    I'd be interested in hearing if it really DID help clear up your skin. I bought some and have been using it as a "second-pass cream" with my DE in hopes that it will indeed clear up some "problem areas" of mine!
