Rocky Mountain Soapworks
I'm not sure how to go about reviewing soap, so I'll give you my impressions as best I can with comparison to my previous experience.
First off, the shaving soap, The Glacier Ice Shave soap.
Ingredients: Water, saponified oils of coconut (cocos nucifera), vegetable and olive oil (olea europaea ), fullers earth, lemon essential oil (citrus limonum), vegetable glycerin, cocoa butter (theobroma cacao seed butter), peppermint essential oil (menthe piperita), and ultramarine blue (ultramarines).
this soap, as with all Rockey mountain soaps is quite soft, about like stiff clay. This is the only shave soap I've used, but compared to the Gillette Gel I used to use, this is much better. it has a very slight mint scent, but not enough to give the cooling sensation usually associated with peppermint. I have been able to get very slick lather most of the time, I'm sure my skills are the weak link in the chain and not the soap.
I follow up my shaves with a aloe based aftershave.
Next is the shampoo bar, Dry Scalp Shampoo,
Ingredients: water, sponified oils of coconut (cocos nucifera oil), oilve (olea europaea oil) and castor oil (ricinus communis seed oil) with rosemary essential oil (rosemarinus officininalis) and red clay.
I have very dry scalp with brutal dandruff. I was using head and shoulders which did the job, nothing spectacular. When I ran out I switched shampoos and the new one caused my scalp to have a breakout (I kid you not) within a couple of days. so I trashed that stuff and picked up this to give it a try, under the assumption that one of the many chemicals in the shampoo were to blame. I love this new stuff, the rosemary scent reminds me a bit of roast turky but whatever. I still have the dandruff, but my scalp feels fine.
Finally the body bar, I'm using the Northern Exposure soap
Ingredients: Water, saponified oils of coconut (cocos nucifera oil), vegetable and olive oil (olea europaea oil), cocoa butter (theobroma cacao seed butter), chamomile (matricaria chamomilla), oatmeal (avena sativa kernel meal) and sweet almond oil (prunus amydgalus dulcis).
I was using Old Spice body wash, which was ok, i'm not a fan of the scent but she who has the say in the matter found one that didn't smell like an industrial cleaner to her. Problem is that the water here is fairly hard, and very chlorinated, so showering = itching. Problem solved with this soap. Perhaps over summer with more humidity I'll go for the Mountain Man soap with is designed obviously for men, but its not moisturizing, which I need during winter.
All in all, I'd recommend all of their soaps and other products, which can be found in random places all over Alberta, and via their website Rocky Mountain Soap Company - 100% Natural Skin Care
While my skin is "good" I've never really had an acne problem, and its not really oily or extremely dry, I've filled my body with quite a few chemicals over my few short years, and while it isn't bothering me now, my dad has recently developed a very severe sensitivity to most chemicals, after his years of farming and mechanic-ing so I figured that I should cut them out where I can.
Thanks for reading, any and all feedback is welcome, hopefully I can give back as much as I've been given in this community!

comfortably shaving
i sell the Rocky Mountain Soap Company line in my health food store and it is great. it is the one line that i can be confident with when it comes to people with sensitive skin. i tried the shave soap when we first got it in and liked it, but found that i wasn't getting a thick enough lather as compared to the easy to use Proraso. i have since improved my lathering technique and plan on going back to the RMSC. its a very natural line, the body butters are great.

Cream Huffer
We have been using Rocky Mountain soaps here in the house for the last year and a half. We have been through the whole line. They are all good, but we prefer the ones that are of very smooth consistancy, no twigs or other ouchie things in them.
I personally prefer the Mountain Dew scent.
I have not had much luck with the shaving soap though. Maybe it is time I give it another try.

Like I said, I'm not comparing it to much, so I don't really know. But it works for me, and I feel the benefits of cost, natural ingredients, and supporting a local business, are good enough.
