Well, YOU introduced me to Arko! Love the fruity smell.
    Funny how our palettes differ!
    So many sticks....So little time!

Arko is a fine soap for sure. I use it about once a month. Its scent settles down after a while. It actually reminds me of ivory bath soap. Like Palmolive, it doesn't come in a protective container.

Do they make a bad shave stick? Any I have tried work just fine.

Bob, I have a Vie-Long stick that I'm not thrilled with. The soap is just okay. As a stick it is flawed. The soap is prone to coming loose from the base. It also us a little tricky to use since it has a small diameter and rounded tip.

the La Toja is my shave stick of choice because its a scent I get along with,, plus ive never had any trouble with the cap,, and its a permanent resident in my shave bag,,, more miles than I care to add up. and you are right Mike,, I will be the first to say Arko is a great soap if you can handle the scent, which I believe really is the way we judge a lot of soaps ,,, because as Bob said a lot of soaps do a good job. but shave sticks I would say are the perfect travel soaps, YMMV. one of these days I,m going to go and find me a silver tube so I can be like the cool guys on here Tc

    You have a point.

Not crazy about the "fruity" smell (if I ever go on a holiday in Turkey, I need to ask the locals what fruit that might be. ) of Arko, but it worked well when I tried it.

In the economy section, I find Palmolive hard to beat, but alas no container.
I use a small sealable plastic container with some paper (coasters work better than tissue, as the don't disintegrate so easily when wet) stuffed on the side to keep it from rattling around.

As already mentioned, La Toja comes loose off the base and starts rattling around in the container even if the top did not come off.

More often than not, it's the container (or lack thereof) that determines which stick travels with me.

I would be interested in seeing more companies offer travel size creams and soaps like the Castle Forbes 50 ml tubs.

Yes, it is pretty hard to fault the lather produced by shave sticks currently available but the containers themselves or complete lack of them that is the problem.

If they came in round containers that screw up for use, like Tabac shave sticks do for example, there would be no problem. I'll also give Tabac credit for offering refills for their shave sticks so you can reuse your now empty container.
