Not sure about a recipe but here are some others with lanolin - Musgo Real cream, Wilkinson Sword stick & Veleiro cream.
Godrej cream, Proraso Red cream, Ingrams cream & Omega cream.
I rate MWF at the top of the heap, with Wilkinson Sword coming in second.
Will be interesting to see what your soapmaker friend comes up with.

Yes, Mitchell's Wool Fat contains lanolin. It is the lanolin in it, among other things what makes MWF a great conditioner for the skin but not what makes it a great shaving soap. I suggest that you consider making a good shaving soap first as this is not an easy task, particularly if your friend does not have experience making shaving products. Bar soaps and shaving soaps are completely different in properties. While bar soap's main function is to cleanse, shaving soaps need to produce copious amounts of dense and stable lather. This obviously implies that the ingredients, and some times, the methods used are different. The whole plan would be: 1) to test a few known good soaps to learn what you like about them (it is very hard to make something good if you do not know what good is); 2) show your soapmaker friend the results you would like to see in the soap and final lather; and 3) add the lanolin as a variable to the mix. By experience, I can tell you that it may take some time and effort, not to mention money, before you find a winner. Good luck!!!

Lanolin is typically added to the mix after trace. Chemically, lanolin is a wax, not a fat. If your soap maker is currently superfatting after trace, she can probably substitute lanolin for what ever fat she is using.

Hmm all my lanolin ends up in a beeswax mix for patch lube... Now I must find it in shave soap... So much stuff....
