Default Acca Kappa 1869 cream in the tube

So I am disappointed in this shave soap. The lather-ability is poor, lubrication is almost non existent. I can make lather out of Ivory! It seems like every time I have tried to use this it comes out different, as if it separated and will not mix back together well. One time it comes out looking like glycerin, the next like gel. It never looks like any cream I have ever used and as for lather, forget it. For now I envision using it only for an added smell (the only saving grace for this), rich mossy scent. Do not waste your money on it. Any other users of this here? I had heard the soap was nice. I can't see throwing good money after bad at this point.

    Hello, Str8Shooter:

I have seen Acca Kappa soap for quite sometime and never tried. Come to think of it, for some reason it has not held my attention long enough to give it a try. Call it a gut feeling. Your thoughts about the soap's low quality confirm my suspicion of this soap. Many thanks.

    Regards,

    Obie

Obie say it's not so!!! A soap you have not tried???? In talking with Robert he says there is a newer formulation of cream that is a better performer. The scent is great but I will not try this version again. wish I had your gut feeling.....

I am surprised you can't get it to lather fairly easily. It's a nice soap, the scent is even better, may be the glide and slickness is not on par with that of Cella for example but overall there are many soaps out there which are vastly inferior to the 1869 veggie tube.

The 1869 tub (almond scent, lanonin in the ingredients) is indeed a much better performer.

Thanks for reminding me to revisit this post. I found that after I had the Dirty Bird 1.5 that It indead did lather up well and it is in my rotation now. For some reason this stuff will not lather up well in my smaller scuttle's. I actually like the scent. Mossy earth type. I found that when I make an Uber with MDC the two compliment each other quite well. I will say that when I first used it that it appeared that it had seperated from heat. I needed to mash it around in the tube for quite a while before it mixed together again.

Glad you got it to work out, and glad to know to use a larger scuttle for when I try some. I have been looking to try some for a while ever since I got some acca kappa after shave that I really like.

I have the Acca Kappa 1869 cream in the bowl, not the tube, and I am very satisfied with it.
Quick lather formation, it lasts long enough for 3 passes even in slow shavers, very good lubrication, very nice almond scent not excessively strong as cheaper almond Italian creams and soaps.
Moreover, it gives me the impression that it forms a protective film to the skin while shaving. This is something that I first noticed with the MWF soap, and maybe the lanoline which is also included in Acca Kappa is responsible for that particular feeling.
    Highly recommended.

The 1869 is a different formulation, smell etc... That being said I found it to be good when I finally got it mixed together after seperating in shipping and also once I used a larger better scuttle(DB1.5).
