    Default Date this Williams!

    Gents,

I picked up this box of Williams at an antique store. The only markings that I can gather is that it was 15 cents when it was new. Any ideas on how old it is?

I can post more pics by request, but there's not much more to it. Every Williams box of soap I've ever seen lists the weight under 'mug shaving soap', but this one doesn't. I don't know what to make of it.

Just guessing, I would say 1940-50s.

I was thinking the same thing, but through a little research I'm pretty confident that it was made some between 1958 and 1962. The packaging says it was made in NJ, which is where the company moved to when it was bought out in 1957. And there's no ingredient list on the package, so I think it's pretty close to the move, plus the relatively low price of 15 cents. zib's box looks to be about the same age.

The price stamp on a box of Williams soap .19 in 1968. So it predates that - I would guess the OP's box is from 60-65.
I was under the impression that the factory moved to NJ in 1960 - or perhaps the boxes were first stamped NJ in 1960 after they used all the ones that were stamped RI. I have several of those bricks shown in the photo above - the boxes in the brick I opened are all stamped .19... I'm wondering if the boxes in the brick above are from the same time-frame.
All of the boxes I have from the 1950's have a different graphic.
