I don't know if any of you have used William Marvy soap, but that's what I've been using as my first, and up until tonight, only soap. I've gone through most of a puck of it now, and despite changing water temps, amount, brush speed etc, I've never seen a great lather from it. Thanks to great advice here, I started adding a few drops of glycerin about a week ago, and while that helps (quite a bit), it's still nothing like the thick lather people post pictures of around here in reviews. It also seemed to dissipate quickly - I'd end up re-lathering several times a shave.
Earlier this week while Christmas shopping for people, I decided to add some RazoRock classic cream to the cart. I'd read good things, and at only $9.95 and free two day shipping, I figured I'd try it - at least I'd have something to compare my lather techniques with compared to the Williams. Was it all me - or was it partly the soap?
Well, I'm happy to report, it's NOT all me!! I just scraped a bit of cream off the inner cap of the container, little more than a smear in my lather bowl and gave it a go when I go home tonight, and BAM!! Thick, creamy piles of lather enveloped my brush, burying it in fluffy clouds!! So I applied it, just to see, and it just stayed, and stayed and stayed!! I think I could take a week to finish a shave and I still wouldn't have to re-apply! This stuff is amazing!! The clouds have parted and I feel like I'm finally making some decent lather!
Nothing new here for a lot of you I'm sure, but I'm super excited nonetheless. If you're looking for a good cream, I think I found one.
