Thread: Arko Shave Stick

I looked up 'Arko' and came across the following thread. In hindsight, it might not be a good spot for my 'review' (which is actually a reply to the OT's post) so I thought I'd post a link. Hope that's OK and I hope the 'review' is useful...

Arko is a great performer, but many can't stand the scent. You don't need to grate it to put it in a bowl, it's so soft you just press it into your container of choice.

Beware!!! Once you get your technique down lathering the Arko, you will start buying more and more shave sticks. Today it's Arko. In a few weeks you'll have to try the Palmolive. Then Speick, Erasmic, Tabac, D.R. Harris, etc... They are inexpensive compared to regular soaps and creams and lather just as well.

Here's what I did:

I chopped it up into thumbnail sized pieces, and put it in the microwave for about 20 seconds. Then I easily pressed it into one of my empty Proraso containers. It didn't affect the smell or the lather at all....and I figured, if it did, then I can afford the $4 to buy two more sticks and have them sent over across the pond.

Actually, it works so well just rubbing it on my face, I may just keep doing that!
I actually don't mind the scent, though I get the urinal scent analogy...

I'm thinking about some of Valobra and maybe a Speick stick (I quite liked Speick in a tube)...

Been there, done that... I really like Arko and I like the "honest clean" scent. Palmolive's scent is really nice.

I'd recommend giving Wilkerson Sword shaving stick a try, it's a superb product.

Ta, I'll look it up :-)

I'll have to second the Wilkinson Sword stick, as it's just an amazing stick. My favorite is the German Palmolive followed by the Wilkie.
