Default Recommend a good glycerin based soap?

    Gents,

Can anyone recommend a good glycerin based soap? I'm currently using Mama Bear's and really love it, but it runs out so fast.

Bald Frog all the way. I love the Citrus and the Wasabi and the pumpkin and the..........

It takes some whipping up, but it's awesome once you get it.

SRD soaps are excellent and glycerin based. DR Harris makes awesome tallow based soaps, if you want to give those a try.

I don't use it much but VDH Deluxe may fit the bill for you. I believe it's softer than MB's but 2.5 oz costs 2-2.50 USD. What size brush are you using? I've been staying true to MB's "Clary Sage & Lavender" and have noticed a real concavity develop over the past month, I know you can load the brush easily with it but how fast are you running out of it?

P.S. I don't know if Crabtree & Evelyn soaps are your thing but they are harder-milled and refills cost about the same as entry-level MB, about 8-10 a 3.5oz puck. Probably last longer, don't know how much cuz I've just smoothed the engraved/sculpted surface so far.

I'm a big fan of Mama Bear's soaps too. Helps me with SWMBO as they are made in her home state of MI. Anyway the Bay Rum is awesome as is the Natural Lime Oil.

Col Conk is a good glycerine based soap. The amber scented is usually the most recommended though I also like the bay rum.

When you like it, stay by MB. Buy another 2 or 3 tubs of your favorite smell or try another smell and enyoy your shave.
You get about 40/50 shaves out one tub so thats not so bad.

I don't know what size mug (i.e. face), brush you have or how many passes you need to get a satisfactory shave, nor how much psychoactive augmentation you, as someone who lives in Amsterdam, require during your shaving adventures but I'd have to say that my "concavity" on the top of a barely used MB soap would account for easily less than a 20th of the puck. It has been about two months of shaves, I shave every other day but skipped a few here and there (DE shaved with a cream I've relegated to DE shaves only).

So lets say I've got 30 x 2 = 60, 60 - 5 = 55. 55 shaves equivalent, 55 x 20 (how many fractions of my purely speculative MB consumption) = 1,100. I've got to analyze the puck when I get home but even if I'm off by a factor of two that's about 3 years of shaving cut down into 1.5 years. If I shave every day that's 3/4ths of a year (9 months). Just sayin' for reference. I don't support the idea that these relatively soft glycerin soaps don't last a long time when used frugally.
