Given that the firm of Birck & Zamminer identifies itself as being in New York on the tang, but that the tang is further stamped M.I. Germany, this author's guess is that the blade or perhaps the entire razor was made in Germany for the New York firm of Birck & Zamminer. The most information on the firm a Google search returns is a blog post on a peculiar knife of unidentified purpose made by the first of the firm's partners, Fred Birck. Other search results are most commonly for expired eBay auctions for the same razor.
