These Thuringians are believed to have been produced by Escher to be rebranded by Droescher for sale in the USA. There are hones of similar dimensions and quality branded Escher and E&C. All three varieties were sold, with a rubber, in labelled baby blue boxes. The yellow-labelled Rochester hones of the Robeson Cutler Co. are comparable too, but seem to have been sold without rubber and box.

The label reads:

S.R. Droescher Genuine Water Razor Hones SRD a guarantee for quality

These are the genuine WATER- HONES, preferred throughout Germany to all others for shar- pening Razors, & c. They need no other recommendation to their quality than a single trial, which will be sufficient to convince the most incredulous of their supe- riority. Be particular to keep them free from Oil and Grease.

DIRECTION. To give the Razor a smooth edge, take the small stone and water, and rub till you produce a lather; than apply the Razor, and you will get a smooth and durable edge.
