Here is my review of the Robeson Suredge razor with hammered tang.
I got this, and another, off ebite. This razor came to me un-honed with no evidence of a bevel ever being set on it. Still had a factory sticker stuck to it. Mine came with black scales that don't feel like plastic, maybe celluloid. The tang is heavily hammered, so much that the company name and model can only just be made out if you know what it's suposed to look like. the blade is a 6/8 square point in the typical US styling that I have seen.
Apon honing I discovered that this one didn't have a straight grind for the blade. It's a bit off to the side. Just enough that when honing it I found the grind of the stone didn't go to the edge evenly on both sides. So I went down to a DMT 320 to set the bevel. That done I was able to get the bevel polished up. Now this has some pretty hard steel, it took a while to grind the new bevel. Even the polishing stones seemed to take longer. After the polish was set and I stropped it up... Smooth... This is one of my best shavers.
I mentioned that I had another, other than the edge not being off center, it is a carbon copy. Time to hone and shave where both the same. Anyone looking to purchase a Robeson Suredge will not be disapointed.
