That's the very first str8 I ever bought, and I love it (Back at the turn of the century ). It shaves and looks great. It's my travel razor, too. I bought it from Shavemac, but i think I only paid $65 for it. I think prices have gone up. It is the razor I would recommend any one new to str8 shaving.

I won a 5/8 Dovo Special Tortoise off of eBay a number of months ago and it is one of my favorite razors. In fact, it is my "go to" razor. The blade is rather soft, and forgiving. The edge holds its sharpness well, and I too can get BBS with only two passes using this razor. I highly recommend for daily shaving as well as travel.

Mine arrived the other day, complete with a honing by Lynn. So far I'm liking it.

I've just recieved my 6/8 dovo and i stropped and it gave me adesent shave right out the box. 4 to 5 passes to get a closish shave as blade seemed to miss bits of stubble i had to double back but there was no pulling and you could tell the blade could be a little keener. what would you recomend to get a keener edge i heard you have honed one recently could you give a sequance to try on my 4k 8k and what kind of finish would you recomd i have done the pyramid twice now and i say no better but no worse about the same. thanxs gary

I bought one of these in 6/8 and have been pleased. It's a nice looking, nice feeling, razor. It gives a good shave, and is easy to maintain.

Whats the deal with the colouring? In the first pic it is greenish and doesn’t look that nice. But in Smooves pic it look brownish and much more pleasing to the eye. They are the same razor yeah?

Colouring on the classic shaving site seems misleading.

+1 on these Dovo specials. I've honed a few for various folk and they all take an excellent edge.

They don't take much to hone up either.

I own a couple Dovos and they are by far the best shavers. I would give up my
$300.00 T.I. before my $70.00 dovo for a great shave. I am going to get one with nicer scales.

Can anyone describe how a 6/8 feels or handles differently from a 5/8?
