    The longer tang looks very good...I like the idea.

    Default Engraving?

    Hi Lynn,

    On the opposite side, where it says "Takeda Steel Japan". It appears that it's been etched into the metal with a hand held etcher, one of the vibrating types that are used to mark tools.
    Is this the case? I couldn't really tell by looking at he picture.

    Actually I don't think the long tangs are such a great feature.
    I shave with only 2 fingers on the tang, my ring finger on the shank and my pinky dangling loose.

    The XL tang would make it a bit harder to handle I think.

    I've never found tail length to be an issue until you get to the long De Pews-style monkey tails; and even there the problems are as much due to the short tang as the long tail.
