Question for the honemeister: did you still need to do a pretty big rolling-x to get the whole edge sharp after you reset the bevel? I don't see any need to play w/ it on my Belgian combo until it needs a touch-up, but I figure I could probably save myself some frustration when the time comes by asking now.

I've got some pretty good sized hones, (8X3) so I really didn't have to do anything special there. On your razor, I had to do a few strokes leading with the heel, and a few leading with the toe to get the full length sharp (because of the smile) If you hone it like you normally would, you should be fine, you may have to pay a little extra attention to the heel and toe, but otherwise you shouldn't have any other issues.

I just shaved with my Filarmonica 13 that was honed by Lynn. While I think the fit and finish of this razor is pretty crappy, especially the half wedges molded into each side of the handle (obviously to make production cheaper by eliminating the spacer) the blade is outstanding and the honing was superb (thanks Lynn). What a shave! What a shave!

I have the same Razor, and love it. The weight of that blade is really something, so I could see the pins having a hard time holding it. I'll check mine when I get home tonight to see if it's the same.

So many of my razors have loose pins that it doesn't bother me that much anymore. I'll get to 'em all eventually.

As for tape, I just started practicing honing. I hope to learn a thing or two from the talent we've got coming to our Northern California SRP Meet next week. However, while practicing I have not taped any of my blades. I don't think I have anything that requires me to take off so much metal that the hone will put a big mark on the top of my blade.

I have just recieved my doble temple from classic pre sharpend. I found the handles to be really loose at the pivot area when in the shaving position but nice and tight as i close the handles. So i have returned the razor and they won't exchange because i have used it once.So it looks like this one will be on ebay.

    gary h,

Have you tried tightening the rivet? If the pin is not bent and you peen it gently you should be able to get the razor tighter when open and not affect the tension much when it is nearly closed. If the pin is bent, no amount of peening will increase the tension when it's open.
