Default First Impression of Lynn Abrams Perfect Edge Hard Felt Wool Strop by Hand American

I received my felt strop from Lynn the other day and wanted to brag about it. I also want to give kudos to Keith DeGrau from Hand American for making such a nice strop. My first impression of this strop was that it is a class act and deserves all of this bragging.

First of all the hardware on this strop is very nice looking and gives this strop a very professional look. The felt is actually pure India Wool that has been compressed using pressure and steam. It has kind of rough feel to it unlike the smooth feel that some leather has which would indicate that this will work great as is or with a diamond spray or a paste. I did strop a razor and it felt good and had some drag to it. I have yet to apply a paste because I am now thinking about applying possibly a diamond spray. The reason, which some will disagree, is that I hate to upset the nice looks of this thing. We will see what I finally decide to do. After stropping with either a diamond spray or a paste I will continue my review of this strop.

If you are interested in acquiring or just looking at one of these you can do so by visiting StraightRazorDesigns.com.

I guess it looks like I am pushing this for Lynn and Keith, which I guess that I am in certain respects, but these comments are entirely my own and I thought that this new, well fairly new, type of strop needed commenting about.

We are in the same boat. I got mine last week along with some diamond spray and I haven't pasted mine yet either. I intend to paste one side with the spray and use chrom ox on the other side. I think it is plenty thick enough for that. Beautiful piece of workmanship.

Three weeks here, and I gotta say again that the pics do not do this strop justice at all....Great heavy duty hardware and nice and long....
I sprayed one side of mine with the .50 12 caret diamond spray the first day, that side works exactly as expected, I do believe it puts a slightly smoother edge on than the Diamond paste on a leather strop....

Now the other side I have been messing with just plain, in place of my leather strop as a regular use strop... I am still in the testing stages of that use, but the results so far are very promising....

+1 and get the diamond spray. The felt and the spray transformed a hard to hone ATS 34 into a great shaver !.
